Glenlivet Distillery was founded in 1824 by George and his youngest son, James Gordon Smith, located in Upper Drumin, Although this distillery is not the oldest in Scotland, its reputation comes from the fact that it is considered "the single malt that started it all". Since its founding, except for a brief period during World War II, production has almost never stopped.

Distilled in 1997 and matured until 2011, this 14 year old single sherry butt #16946 yielded a total of 550 bottles.
