In 1592, Leonardo Suduyraud married Nicole Allard, who brought the estate as a dowry. The estate was looted and burned, and the vineyards were devastated during the Fronde (late 1649 or early 1650) and were rehabilitated at the end of the 17th century by Blaise de Suduiraud, grandson of Leonardo. The microclimate of the region leads to warm, sunny afternoons in the autumn, following the morning mist. This causes, or at least stimulates, the appearance on the grapes of botrytis cinerea, or noble rot.
