The Clos des Lambrays occupies the middle of the hillside, "the best exposure", with its Pinot Noir vines planted in stony soil. The plot is mentioned as early as 1365 under the name of "Cloux des Lambrey" in the titles of the Abbey of Citeaux. "The oldest plants are 85 years old, the youngest are barely two years old and are so tender that they have to be protected from rabbits.
