This estate was created in 1754 by Jacques Boyd, squire from a Belfast family, its wine is already highly appreciated and is classified third growth of Cantenac by the broker Labadie in 1776, In 1806, John Lewis Brown, husband of Jacques Boyd's granddaughter, purchased the property, then he sold it in 1843, this sale was the beginning of the division of the vineyard between the future Château Cantenac-Brown and Château Boyd-Cantenac.
