Bruichladdich was founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the western part of Islay. After a long history in 1994, a group of enthusiasts led by independent bottler Murray MacDavid took over the distillery in 2001 and relaunched production with Jim McEwan, elected several times "distiller of the year"

Bruichladdich released the Legacy series from 2002 until 2007, this is the fifth release and was distilled in 1972 then bottled in September 2006.
