Bruichladdich was founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the western part of Islay. After a long history in 1994, a group of enthusiasts led by independent bottler Murray MacDavid took over the distillery in 2001 and relaunched production with Jim McEwan, elected several times "distiller of the year".

This whisky was distilled on 25th November 1964 and laid to rest for 21 years before being bottled on 2nd September 1986.
